The Game Trail - Heroic Tier (4th level) Encounter
I will admit that I love fights with Kobolds. In creating fights with Kobolds I’ve come across a few things I like about them. They are fun to play because they are the underdog. They tend to travel in packs and spend a lot of time trying to setup an advantageous situation against larger and mostly better armed combatants.
In the The Game Trail encounter design I’ve tried to capture those elements I love best about Kobolds:
- Kobolds working together in a pack structure.
- Kobolds using a variety of tricks and techniques including traps.
- The humor only a Kobold can bring to a DnD encounter.
The encounter is designed for parties of 1st-4th level. For lower level parties (those with a level average of 1st-2nd level) it will be a hard fight. For those with a higher level it is designed to be of medium difficulty. Included in the product are instructions for how to lower or increase the difficulty of the encounter.
I’ve had the admin attached a sample PDF of a few pages from the product so you can get a feel for it. You'll see it near the bottom of this description. I promise this sample isn’t all the goods. Included in the full 18 page PDF product and attached files are:
- A well developed encounter with monsters that are more than a stat block.
- An encounter map made from included map tiles that you can print and re-use.
- Easy to read and use stat blocks and an encounter tracking sheet.
- An engaging story hook complete with a map of a small village and an opportunity to engage the party in role playing.
- Thoughtful layout which prints well on black and white printers and is sensitive to ink usage.
- Electronic Encounter files for DnD4eCM (http://wiki.rpg.net/index.php/DnD4eCM) and InCombat4e (http://laughterforever.com/inCombat/) that can be loaded directly into these tools.
With all that goodness its begging to be put in your basket and purchased. :)
Finally, this first encounter is designed to be used in conjunction with forth coming encounters i'm currently working on to allow you to use them as a complete delve.
As always, I would really appreciate your feedback both complimentary and critical.
